Texas: Where All The Jobs Have Gone
Texas sees highest employment gains over the last five years
Texas is second to none when it comes to adding jobs.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, only nine states have added jobs over the last five years collectively, and Texas sits right at the top.
Adding 451,100 non-farm jobs between November 2006 and November 2011, the next closest state added 57,000 jobs in the same time. Texas is followed by Louisiana, North Dakota, District of Columbia and Oklahoma to round out the top five.
What’s even more impressive is that this study started before the 2008 recession, proving that Texas can find a way to weather the storm.
