(June 9, 2005) BOERNE, Texas – Cordillera Ranch, an 8,600-acre
master planned residential community located in the Texas Hill Country
just outside of Boerne, Texas, has named Kris “K.D.” Davis as Head Golf
Course Superintendent for the development’s par-72 Jack Nicklaus
Signature Golf Course, which is slated for completion in late 2005.
“K.D. brings to Cordillera Ranch a wealth of golf course management
experience and familiarity with the Nicklaus brand,” said Chris Hill,
Vice President of DH Investment Company, the Lufkin, Texas-based
developer of Cordillera Ranch. “I am confident that his contributions
combined with Jack Nicklaus’ unique design will set the standard for
golf in Texas.”
As head golf course superintendent, Davis will be responsible for
overseeing the sodding of the course beginning in late May, while also
supervising the course infrastructure, draining and irrigation as the
course continues to progress toward completion. In addition, Davis’
staff will also manage the landscaping of The Clubs of Cordillera
Ranch sites and villas.
“The stability and raw beauty of the property is what initially
attracted me to Cordillera Ranch,” said Davis. “(Developers) David and
Chris Hill have created a community that will endure for years to come
and one that I see myself being a part of for a long time.”
Prior to joining Cordillera Ranch, Davis amassed vast experience of
maintaining Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses around the world. He most
recently served as Head Golf Course Superintendent at Cimarron Hills in
Austin, Texas, and as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at the New
Albany Country Club in Ohio. Davis has also worked at the Muirfield
Village Golf Club, home of the Memorial Tournament and venue to the 1998
Solheim Cup. In addition, Davis spent a season at New Jersey’s Ridgewood
Country Club, which has hosted the Ryder Cup and the Senior Open, and a
year at the Australian Golf Club in Sydney. While employed at the
Nicklaus re-designed course, Davis learned to manage warm-season turf
while the course hosted the Greg Norman Invitational, a PGA event.
Davis received a bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management with a
minor in plant pathology from Ohio State University.
Cordillera Ranch is an 8,600-acre master planned residential
community located north of San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country. The
centerpiece of Cordillera Ranch will be a 7,477-yard Jack Nicklaus
Signature Golf Course to be completed by fall 2005. Cordillera Ranch
offers its residents on-site recreational opportunities and boasts 1 to
10-acre homesites, with some including Guadalupe River frontage, hilltop
or golf course views. In 2005, residents of the guarded/gated community
will have the opportunity to join The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, which
will feature seven resort-style clubs in one location, including The
Golf Club, Social Club, Tennis and Swim Club, Equestrian Club, Rod and
Gun Club, Spa and Athletic Club and River Club. Cordillera Ranch is
being developed by Cordillera Ranch Development Corp., a subsidiary of
Lufkin, Texas-based DH Investment Company.
